Charmian struggles to provide for the family as Ronnie continues to languish in prison, and embarks on an affair with a young sailor – but the fling has unexpected consequences and forces her to make a devastating decision. A glimmer of hope emerges when she discovers Ronnie is planning to escape, but the police are turning up the pressure on his criminal colleagues.
