Then Churchill Said To Me (BBC 1982, Frankie Howerd, Joanna Dunham)

Sitcom Then Churchill Said To Me was actually made in 1982 but remained unbroadcast on terrestrial TV at the time. It was held back because of the Falklands conflict that was then going strong. Satellite station UK Gold first broadcast the show in 1993 (1 March – 5 April) and has shown it many times since.

Set during World War II it had Frankie Howerd doing his usual thing but this time as a private working in Churchill’s secret underground bunker system in 1941.

18 years after it was originally to be aired, starting 8 April 2000, BBC2 showed selected episodes.
