Classic TV Moments: Hancock’s Half Hour – Twelve Angry Men
Who needs justice when Sid discovers that jury members who cannot reach agreement get paid 30 bob a day during their deliberations. The Henry Fonda/Lee J Cobb classic of American jury room justice was ripe for send up and Anthony Aloysius did it brilliantly as he took command of his own jury screaming: ‘Does Magna Carta mean nothing to you? Did she die in vain?’
As writer Alan Simpson explained on BBC1 history of sitcom, Laughter in the House, Hancock’s character thought he was wonderful but he was ignorant. ‘He was a prat.’
