Made
in 1976, Frederico Fellini incredible vision of the life of the
notorious 18th century libertine is a feast for the eyes.
This
is a bawdy, grandiloquent tale of the world's greatest lover. Donald Sutherland
(M.A.S.H) stars as an aging seducer hungrily scouring the opulent boudoirs of eighteenth-century Venice in an attempt to satisfy his insatiable sexual appetite.
With lush widescreen cinematography, sumptuous studio sets, and lavish costumes (it won the Oscar for Best Costume Design), this vision of the life of a philandering dilettante remains one of Fellini's great cinematic spectacles.
Rated R Casanova is not for the feint of heart but remains an arthouse
classic.
