SHAKESPEARE RE-TOLD

To celebrate the dvd release from Roadshow of four modern day versions of classic tales from the immortal bard better known as Shakespeare Re-Told we have a copy of each for you to win.

A MIDSUMMER NIGHTS DREAM A romantic comedy about four warring couples, a donkey’s head, and a gaggle of fairies…A Midsummer Night's Dream, a romantic comedy about warring couples, set in a weekend holiday park. Theseus and Hippolyta were once Hippies, now they are celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary and intend to renew their vows among the cellulite, socks and sandals of the holiday camp.A family break at Dreamparks forest retreat and activity centre. Amongst the natural and magical setting of our holiday park, proud parents Theo and Polly Moon are holding a weekend party to celebrate their daughter Hermia’s engagement to her childhood sweetheart, and boy-next-door James.

As the guests are about to toast the happy couple, a young man comes crashing into the party and Hermia is forced to announce that she loves another - this man is Zander, they met at university and he is ‘the one’, not James. The disgraced couple run off into the woods together until the heat dies down. Hermia’s best friend Helena has been let into the secret, but is in fact rather pleased at the news as she’s had a lifelong - unreciprocated - crush on James. She and James make their way into the woods in search of the others. Something disturbing is happening though: Theo is having hallucinations.

He hasn’t suffered from these visions for a long time… a gang of bickering fairies and their leader Oberon, are haunting him and trying to give him marital advice. The fairies then return to the woods to settle scores amongst themselves and cause havoc amongst the young lovers. Under the light of the moon, Oberon, the leader, decides to make mischief with his spells, ending in hilarious consequences. He tricks his wife Titania into falling in love with the now ass-headed Bottom, and he engineers false feelings between the young couples so that everyone jilts their own true love.Having enjoyed the power of revenge, Oberon removes the spells and all returns to normal. True love conquers: James and Helena proclaim their love for one another, Hermia and Zander’s relationship is accepted, and Theo and Polly see life in a happier light. Even Oberon’s relationship with Titania is refreshed. The cabaret show goes down a storm (even if the magician’s tricks are helped along by the hand of a fairy).]

MACBETH A gripping and vital portrait of the fall of a man, and his ultimate realisation of his own corruption.Macbeth, set in a stylish, high-class restaurant, where Joe Macbeth and his wife Ella have established the highest standards and worked very hard for their celeb boss, Duncan a TV Superchef.Shakespeare’s Macbeth is transposed to the enclosed and passionate world of a top restaurant kitchen.

Full of ambition, hierarchy, debauchery and ruthlessness, our film portrays a vibrant and mesmerising world.Joe Macbeth is Head Chef in an award-winning restaurant owned by ‘Executive Chef’ Duncan. Whilst Duncan swans around from TV interview to celebrity party garnering praise and recognition for his amazing cooking, Joe is the one hard at work producing culinary masterpieces for the tables.

Joe is driven and passionate about food and his kitchen, and successfully leads an army of keen young chefs.

THE TAMING OF THE SHREW Romantic comedy exploring the complexities of male and female relationships. The Taming of the Shrew, where Katherine is one of Britain's youngest MPs, the original tough cookie - uncompromising, abrasive, ambitious, but scary and people don't 'get' her. The only way she's going to get ahead (even become Party leader) is by softening her image, play things more conventionally, in short, to get married. Peter, a loud mouth drunk, artist and comedian will do anything for a laugh and decides he'll be the man for her.Kate is a bright, talented politician but has no personal charm or romantic success.

This void is thrown into sharp relief by her wealthy and beautiful sister Bianca who earns a crust as a top model. Kate is tipped for big things but is warned that political success will only materialise when she’s perceived to be leading a normal married existence. When the over whelming Petruchio bursts onto the scene and almost immediately proposes, Kate decides to take the plunge. However, after this whirlwind romance all goes downhill.

Petruchio turns up for the wedding in women’s clothes. An attempt to ‘express’ himself honestly, honestly… and Kate sees red. The honeymoon proceeds miserably, Kate furious and humiliated and Petruchio determined to get revenge for a litany of cruel things she said to him on their wedding day. Their battle for power - both hilarious and at times disturbing - results in a deeper understanding of each other and themselves and finally true love reigns.

MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING A romantic comedy set in a regional newsroom between warring co-anchors Beatrice and Benedick. Much Ado About Nothing, where Beatrice presents a popular early evening regional news show called "Points West", a throwback to a more innocent era. But when the show declines in ratings Ben, a quiz show presenter is recalled and set up with her as co-anchor.

They loathe each other but the audience loves them, so will they ever admit to each other what others seem to know...that they're made for each other. Jilted on their first date three years earlier, Beatrice is horrified when Benedick is invited back into the fold to replace her current co-anchor. Benedick’s pompous posturing does nothing to lesson her feelings of loathing. Running parallel to this tempestuous partnership is the whirlwind romance between dishy sports presenter Claude and intellectually challenged weather girl Hero.
