GRAND DESIGNS ABROAD: Malaga, Spain
Building homes in the Malaga region of Spain is all about maintaining tradition laid down by builders over the centuries so Kevin is somewhat surprised in the first episode of Grand Designs Abroad when he meets Hilary and Gil Briffe and learns that they are building a temple to modernity on the side of a hill right in the heart of a set in its ways Andalucian community; and when you are planning such a modern building, should you really trust the building of it to a traditionalist with strong ties to the local infrastructure.
Gil is convinced he can win over the locals and it looks like he might be able to do it, but then he announces that he is going to paint his house lots of different colours much to the distress of the mayor and almost everyone of the towns inhabitants….
