Based on the compelling book by Dava Sobel, drama Longitude starring Jeremy Irons and Michael Gambon is released on DVD this month and in honour of the occasion we have five copies up for grabs!
The story begins in the 18th century where ships are all too often getting lost at sea thanks to their lack of ability in working out their longitude. England’s parliament though decided to offer a hufe financial reward to anyone who could solve the problem. John Harrison (played by the superb Michael Gambon) spent forty years trying to do just that and eventually succeeded.
Running along side this story is one set 200 years later when historian Rupert Gould (Jeremy Irons) determines to make sure that the world does not forget the amazing feat pulled off by Harrison. Longitude is a gorgeous period drama with a wonderful cast and a mesmerising story that just happens to be true.
