Cold Feet Season 6 Episode 1 (ITV 5 Sep 2016, James Nesbitt)
The cast of ITV’s popular 1990s comedy drama Cold Feet reunite for a brand new sixth series, written again by creator Mike Bullen.
In the first episode, the gang are reintroduced. Their marriage has stood the test of time, but Pete and Jenny have been hit hard by the economic downturn and are struggling to make ends meet. Pete is losing his zest for life, while Jenny’s work as an events organiser does not pay well enough to fund the sort of lifestyle they aspire to. While Adam has travelled the world on business, his 15 year-old-son Matthew (Ceallach Spellman) chose boarding school.
Under the guardianship of his godmother Karen, he has turned into a well-adjusted young man – or so it seems. David’s marriage to his divorce lawyer Robyn (Lucy Robinson) has run its course. He is also under a great deal of pressure at work, with too many bright young things in the office ready to jump into his swivel chair.
Karen, on the other hand, appears to have sorted her life out. Her marriage to David well behind her, she has successfully climbed the ladder at work and raised three children almost single-handedly. Content and confident, Karen stopped looking for love years ago, but maybe love has not stopped looking for her. Adam returns to Manchester to announce his forthcoming marriage, but not everyone is as thrilled as he is.
Turns out it’s like the gang have never been away. As comfortable as a pair of your favourite slippers, it is very easy to spend time with Adam and Co. There are no real surprises (as yet anyway) but we are thinking that Karen and David could well be heading for a reunion by the time this season ends, it’s very clear that David is very unhappily married to Robyn.
