The Main Chance: Rule of Law (ITV 2 May 1975, Edward Judd)

In Rule of Law David has been struck off the Roll of Solicitors but has immediately lodged an appeal, this basically means the striking off has been suspended until the appeal has been heard. David is still convinced he has a good case but Henry knows deep down he has little chance.

Meanwhile the practice is defending career criminal Roy Wilson Gibbard who is pleading not guilty in a case of robbery. David clearly is not impressed with Gibbard and persuades him to not defend himself in light of his criminal record and the fact that his criminal history should not have been mentioned in court. Because of this he is able to appeal and wins – his case is dismissed and he goes free. It leaves a sour taste in the mouths of David though. Sharon Mughan as new secretary Inge makes a strong impact on David Main.

More strong guest roles for the likes of Edward Judd, Peter Jeffrey and Leslie Schofield in this episode too. The gorgeous Sharon Maughan (billed as Mughan throughout this series) makes her first appearance as au pair turned secretary Inge Belbin. She very quickly makes herself indispensable to Main.
