MARLA SOKALOFF  PROFILE
Alice on the ABC Television Network's "Big Day"

Marla Sokoloff is best known for starring as the sassy and trouble-making receptionist, Lucy Hatcher, on David E. Kelly's award-winning series "The Practice." Last fall she guest starred on the comedy "Desperate Housewives" as Felicity Huffman's cute and bubbly nanny.

This fall Sokoloff will star in the highly anticipated ABC comedy "Big Day," opposite Josh Cooke. She and Cooke play a couple whose wedding day will play out over an entire season, much like the concept of Fox's "24."

Sokoloff most recently starred in Jerry Bruckheimer's romantic TV comedy "Modern Men." Other television credits include the ABC family telepic "Christmas in Boston" and guest appearances on such hits as "Friends," the VH1 original trilogy "Strange Frequency," "Full House," "Party of Five," "3rd Rock from the Sun" and "7th Heaven."

On the big screen Sokoloff most recently starred in the independent feature "The Tollbooth." Additional film credits include New Line Cinema's dark comedy, "Sugar and Spice," and 20th Century Fox's hit, "Dude Where's My Car?," starring alongside Ashton Kutcher and Sean Willliam Scott. She made her mark in Columbia TriStar's "Whatever it Takes," and also starred in the indie film "Home of Phobia," which debuted at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival.

Sokoloff has launched her own company, "Kiss My Axe," a line of custom-made guitar straps that can be found in high-end boutiques in Los Angeles and at the website www.marlasmusic.com. The straps have been featured on the reality show "Rock Star INXS" and in publications including Women's Wear Daily and CosmoGirl. Sokoloff also performs gigs at local clubs and bars in Los Angeles, showcasing her acoustic and singing talents.

Born and raised in San Francisco, Sokoloff moved to Los Angeles ten years ago and enrolled in the Los Angeles County High School of the Arts, where she studied theater and music. She won numerous awards for her singing and has performed the National Anthem at such high-profile events as the Oakland A's baseball games and for the U.S.O.
