JONATHAN CREEK The Curious Tale of Mr Spearfish
Season Three Episode One | Broadcast on BBC One 27 November 1999
Writer: David Renwick / Costumes: James Baylan / Production Design: John Asbridge / Director: Keith Washington
In the Curious Tale of Mr Spearfish Jonathan and Maddy are more than a little sceptical when a dinner party guest, Lenny, claims to have sold his soul for the devil and made his fortune overnight. When he is later the apparent target for a gun man it appears he is even able to defy death. Meanwhile his God fearing wife is convinced that something sinister is going on. A sideplot sees Adam Klaus in court on a charge of indecent exposure!
A tale straight out of one of those early 1970's Portmanteau horror movies from Amicus, the only thing missing is Peter Cushing although the guy in the strange shop happens to look quite like him. There are also some strong hints of a relationship developing between Maddy and Jonathan at last.
