DINO RIDERS

Animated Scifi adventure series. Human like aliens land on prehistoric Earth and use the Dinosaurs as their own personal weapons against the enemies pursuing them. The show was made purely to push the toys and merchandising associated with it( as it sometimes seems, is every animated series these days).

Long running holiday time show in which, each time,  a different celebrity introduces clips of various Disney films and cartoons.

DOGTANIAN AND THE THREE MUSKEHOUNDS

Animated period drama series. A canine version of the Three Musketeers with in this case Dogtanian teaming up with the other Muskehounds to fight for France.

Writers: Eric Idle, Terry Jones, Michael Palin / Producers: Humphrey Barclay( Season 1), Ian Davidson( season 2)  

Comedy sketch series initially conceived for children  and shown at 5.20pm, the series featured half of Monty Python (Michael Palin, Terry Jones and Eric Idle) and also featured Denise Coffey, David Jason and music group The Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band. Each edition featured an episode of an adventure serial called Captain Fantastic which saw David Jason (as Captain Fantastic) doing battle with the evil Mrs Black( Denise Coffey). This serial was quite popular and ended up continuing as a regular segment on Magpie. During the second season Terry Gilliam also came on board. When Thames were keen to keep the series for kids and the Python boys were not, the trio left and the show ended (Idle, Palin and Jones then carried on doing exactly the same with Monty Python's Flying Circus.)  

 

DR ZONK AND THE ZUNKINS

Sketch series based around young Billy Meek and the contents of his imagination. Robin Eveson played Billy Meek and featured amongst the cast were a young John Candy, Gilda Radner, Bob McKenna, Rosemary Radcliffe, Fiona Reid and Dan Hennessey.

 

DON'T BLAME US!

UK / Thames 'Funny Ha-Ha'  / 1x30m-e / 1974   7 June   Friday 4.50pm

Producer: Ruth Boswell / Director: Darrol Blake

Comedy. Improvisational one off featuring Anne Cunningham, Roddy Maude-Roxby, David Wood, Barry Stainton, Nigel Pegram and Elaine Smith. The show was part of an anthology of six children's comedies this being the only non-sitcom.

 

THE DOOMBOLT CHASE

Action adventure serial. Richard Wheeler and two of his friends, Pete and Lucy, attempt to discover what was behind his Royal Navy Captain father's ramming of another boat at seas (an act which caused his father to be put in Naval jail) and discover a foreign plot involving nuclear missiles.

DOUBLE DARE

Generally messy kids game show involving challenges that all seemed to feature copious amounts of "gunk". Based on a US original and hosted by Gerry Sont and then Tom Jennings. A primetime version "Family Double Dare" was mounted (very very briefly) in 1989.
