Puppet animation series featuring
the adventures of Paulus the Woodgnome who lived in a tall tree in the
middle of the woods. His friends were the woodland animals and his enemy
was Eucalypta the Witch. The show was made in colour and dubbed into
English for distribution to the UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Jean Dulieu made all the puppets for the series, the smallest of these
puppets being a 3cm mouse. He also made all the scenery and dwellings. All
the dwellings could be disassembled to allow camera access for interior
shots.

Puppet pigs Pinky (in Red) and Perky (in blue) run their TV station PPC TV helped by Horace Hare, Conchita the Cow, Bertie the baby Elephant,Ambrose the Cat and the bird group The Beakles. The very popular duo also featured in the hit parade during the sixties and in 1969 the pair left the BBC and switched to ITV with Thames. Presenters were Jimmy Thompson, John Slater, Roger Moffat, Brian Burdon and Fred Emney. Often the Pinky and Perky series had differing titles such as Pinky and Perky's Pop Parade (1960), Pinky and Perky's American Journey (1963) , Pinky and Perky's Island (1967) and Pinky and Perky Times (1968). The Just Group entertainment consortium have purchased the rights to Pinky and Perky and are planning to make a whole new raft of episodes for 2001.

A pre school show for tots, long running presenters included Brian Cant, Derek Griffiths, Floella Benjamin, Johnny Ball, Toni Arthur, Gordon Rollings, Virginia Stride, Brian Croucher, Eric Thompson, Phyllida Law (Eric Thompon's wife) and Julie Stevens. The real stars of the show however were the dolls Humpty, Big Ted and Little Ted, Jemima and Hamble, (in a fit of PC Hamble was later replaced by the black doll Poppy). Each edition saw the presenters glance through one of three windows, Round, Arch and Square to see what story would be told. A long running Australian version of the show was launched in 1966 by the Nine Network.
