DAVID TENNANT TO APPEAR AS THE DOCTOR IN THE SARAH JANE SMITH ADVENTURES

The Sarah Jane Adventures will get a major boost for it's third season when the Doctor himself, in the shape of the departing Neil Tennant, when he joins Sarah Jane in a two part special due to air in September.

Sarah Jane Smith of course is a former companion of The Doctor's who has spun off into her own hugely successful children's series. In The Sarah Jane Adventures, she is helped by her adopted teenage son Luke and an accasional appearance from a certain mechanical dog by the name of K-9.

Sure to please fans of both series, Tennant's next scheduled appearance in Who proper is November with the special The Waters of Mars. Matt Smith is due to take over the role from 2010 onwards.

Elisabeth Sladen who plays Sarah Jane, has been part of the Whoniverse since 1973 when she first appeared alongside Jon Pertwee, she was mainly involved with Tom Baker's doctor though but was considered popular enough to appear, three times so far, in the new incarnation of Who.

The show is executive produced by chief Who meister Russell T Davies.
