LINKSREVOLUTIONARY ROAD
Paramount Home Entertainment / Region 4 / Released 21 May 2009
Featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet
"we are running from the hopeless, emptiness"
One of the finest films you will see all year, Revolutionary Road, directed by Sam Mendes and starring Leonard Di Caprio and Kate Winslet (reuniting for the first time since Titanic) is a film about lives lived in quiet desperation and the compromises you make when you make a life. To celebrate its arrival on DVD we have five copies for you to win.
Set in 1950's Connecticut, Leo and Kate play Frank and April Wheeler, who move into suburbia with their two children. Living on well to do Revolutionary Road, both of them feel stifled and hemmed in by the confines of their lives. Frank feels he is wasting his life, he detests his job working for Knox Business Machines doing the same thing as his father before him. When Frank turns thirty April suggests that they should sell up and move to Paris where she will work and Frank can find himself, whilst they are busy getting things organised, April falls pregnant....
A stunning movie with gorgeous production design, Revolutionary Road encapsulates perfectly the absurdities and vagaries of suburban life and how the compromises you make impact on your life. Definitely the kind of movie that impacts on your way of thinking and will have you looking at your own relationships. The sound track is wonderful too, both the original score by Thomas Newman and the close harmony songs from the likes of The Orioles. Our competition runs until 20 June and to be in with a chance of winning all you have to do is tell us who wrote the novel on which the movie is based.
