MR AXELFORD'S ANGEL

UK / ITV Network - Yorkshire / 1x60 minute episode / Broadcast 5 June 1974

Writer: Peter Whitbread / Production Design: Roger Andrews / Producer: Peter Willes / Director: John Frankau

Romantic comedy drama Mr Axelford's Angel told the story of the wealthy but somewhat reclusive and self absorbed businessman Boris J Axelford who having just lost his secretary, (who walked out because, as she said "you still don't know my first name. You're totally disinterested. No humour, no warmth,") had his life turned upside by the arrival of new secretary Angel.

This light hearted piece was a major hit both in the UK and in the US (where it won an Emmy), it was also nominated for a couple of BAFTAS (one for Michael Bryant for Best Performance and one for Best Single Play - but losing out to Antony and Cleopatra).
