Murphy is on compassionate leave when the story begins, trying to cope with a Mum going downhill fast with Alzeimers.

One of the great things about Murphy is the way with each sucessive season it has the vibe of a stand alone series, usually the only recurring factor is Murphy himself, who, at the start of each serial is usually doing his best to avoid getting involved.

Billy, Drew's brother is mostly quite risible (which is quite a surprise seeing as what a great actor Brian McCardie is). Great to see Nadim Sawalha still going strong (this Egyptian born actor has been playing Indians for well over 30 years now)

Although set in London, Leicester and Ireland, the serial was filmed completely in Ireland.
