Incredible Adventures Of Professor Branestawm, The (ITV 1969, Jack Woolgar)
Children’s fantasy comedy series about Professor Branestawm who spends his time creating outlandish inventions which usually go wrong.
Branestawm was played by hard working character Jack Woolgar who popped up at least once in pretty much every show going during the 1960’s and 1970’s. Trevor Preston, who adapted the series is best known for his work on hard hitting crime drama like Out and The Sweeney but his next work for Thames would be creating the iconic children’s fantasy series Ace of Wands.
Based on a series of books written by Norman Hunter. The character was revived for a couple of big budget hour long BBC movies with Harry Hill in the title role, these aired in 2014 and 2015.
