Key to the City (MGM 1950, Clark Gable, Loretta Young)

Key to the City

Key to the City is a light comedy-romance about a couple of small-town mayors who meet at a big convention in San Francisco. Their Honors Clark Gable (a former longshoreman) and Loretta Young (a prim and proper Harvard graduate) toss the barbed remarks after being arrested in a nightclub brawl, but meanwhile they’re falling in love.

Key to the City was the final film of esteemed character actor Frank Morgan. Morgan, who died at 59 soon after completing the film, is best remembered as the title character in The Wizard of Oz (1939).
