Matthew McConaughey and Ryan Phillippe star in Brad Furman’s crime thriller The Lincoln Lawyer, adapted by John Romano from Michael Connelly’s eponymous novel. Having regained his license to practice following an incident he’d rather not talk about, shark-like Los Angeles criminal lawyer Mick Haller (McConaughey) is back in the game. Unable to afford an office, he conducts business from his chauffeured Lincoln Town Car and keeps his wheels rolling by representing a range of lowlife criminals.
But the cynical attorney’s finances could be about to improve when he lands a case that involves the attempted murder of a woman working as a prostitute. The accused is Beverly Hills rich kid Louis Roulet (Phillippe) and it at first looks like a straightforward defence. But that quickly proves otherwise, and, as the twists and turns pile up, taking the case increasingly appears to have been a dangerous mistake.
