Man At The Top: I’ll Do The Dirty Work (ITV 18 Jan 1971)
In I’ll Do The Dirty Work Joe is asked by Ian Somerset to pull off a tricky job for him and is willing to pay him two thousand pounds to do so, Joe doesn’t realise though that it could spell ruin for Joe’s business. However Joe being Joe he quickly learns what is going on (thanks in no small part to a fling with Somerset’s sister) and manages to turn the tables.
Quite a lot of interesting stuff going on in this episode, especially with the flirtation between Somerset and Susan, something which makes Joe a whole more attentive to her and for the first time in the season actually seems happy to be spending quality time with her. That doesn’t stop him seeing Somerset’s sister though. Joe is a very cool character under pressure and takes great delight in getting the better of Somerset.
