Moody And Pegg: She – The Belle Of The Ball (ITV 19 Aug 1974)

In She – The Belle of the Ball the Ministerial department of bankruptcies and liquidations are holding their annual ball but Daphne has no one to go with. Roland isn’t keen because he is unable to dance but he persuades his French Polishing mate Sid Pascoe to take her. Both have a surprisingly good time and Daphne even gets to have some closure with former lover from Bolton Fred Bracegirdle who is one of the attendees.

Quite a sweet episode really, Roland doing his best to ensure that Daphne is the Belle of the Ball and Sid and Daphne turn out to get on very well indeed, meanwhile George and his cello are hanging around like a bit of a sore thumb. Moody wants to know if he fancies Daphne but George isn’t sure prefering instead to call in and eat the pair of them out of house and home. Meanwhile Daphne’s much older former lover is played by John Ringham best known to audiences for playing Penny’s dad in Just Good Friends but a reliable character player for many years.
