Nocturne 1946 George Raft

Frequent Hitchcock writer Joan Harrison produced tight little noir Nocturne with George Raft as a detective that won’t let the death of a composer go. When the department rules the death a suicide, Raft continues his investigation even after the police force suspends him. He targets Bari, one of the composer’s many mistresses, and then falls for her. She leads him to the real killer, who reveals himself with a musical clue.

Harrison contributed to Hitchcock’s screenplays for Rebecca (1940), Foreign Correspondent (1940) and Suspicion (1941).
