Rentadick (Paradine 1972, Richard Beckinsale, Julie Ege)

Rentadick Julie Ege

As well as the credits below, add in producer Ned Sherrin and you have with Rentadick a film that lurks somewhere between The Goon Show and Monty Python. JAMES BOOTH of the Rentadick agency is the incompetent detective roped in to track down a stolen experimental nerve gas that paralyses its victims from the waist down (hence the inclusion of JULIE EGE in the cast).

The rest of the cast are a who’s who of British comedy at the time and if the film doesn’t score with every joke, there are more than enough to satisfy fans of Python humour. However, collectors of the bizarre should make sure they catch the opening credits for the theme song – by Dave Dee and the Kings Singers.
