The Scarlet Claw

Sherlock Holmes (Basil Rathbone) and Dr. Watson (Nigel Bruce) journey to Canada in this Holmes series entry to attend a conference on the supernatural. Before long, they find themselves investigating a series of gruesome murders that locals attribute to a mysterious marsh monster, but which Holmes connects to a master of disguise who might be anyone in the village. To find out for sure, he courageously sets himself up to be the killer’s next victim.

The publicity photos sent out by Universal’s marketing department at the release of the movie inadvertently gave away the identity of the killer.
