The Tunnel World PremiereOn Wednesday 18 May, 2011 the day before it’s DVD release, Australian horror movie The Tunnel gets it’s world premiere at Event Cinemas – Westfield in Bondi Junction. The screening is followed by a Q&A with writer/producers Enzo Tedeschi and Julian Harvey, director Carlo Ledesma and a special guest appearance by Andrew Denton.

The Tunnel has stirred up a huge amount of interest thanks to the production teams unique method of funding the movie. The budget of $135,000 was raised by selling each frame for $1 and the proviso that the film was released free online and on peer to peer networks. Easy to see why Denton’s Zapruder’s Other Films were keen to climb on board too with their knack for riding the zeitgeist.

The movie itself follows a news film crew’s journey into the mysterious tunnels that lay beneath the streets of Sydney hunting for a story, only for the Tunnels themselves to turn on the investigative team made up of news producer, Peter Ferguson (Andy Rodoreda), TV journalist, Natasha Warner (Bel Delia) TV crew cameraman, Steve Miller (Steve Davis) and sound recordist, Jim ‘Tangles’ Williams (Luke Arnold). The film also stars Goran Kleut, Ben Maclaine and James Caitlin.

The Tunnel is released on DVD on May 19, 2011 by Transmission Films.

The event takes place Wednesday May 18 2011 @ 7.00pm at Event Cinemas – Westfield – 500 Oxford St, Bondi Junction.
