Fairport Convention

1. Meet on the Ledge
2. Who Knows Where the Time Goes
3. Decameron

MEET ON THE LEDGE
WRITTEN BY Richard Thompson

A F#m* A Em* A F#m Em Em7
We used to say that, come the day, we'd all be making songs
G D G D A
Or finding better words. These ideas never lasted long.
F#m* A Em* A F#m Em Em7
The way is up along the road. The air is growing thin.
G D G D A
Too many friends who tried were blown off this mountain with the wind.

A Em
Meet on the ledge; we're gonna meet on the ledge.
G D
When the time is up I'm gonna see all my friends.
A Em
Meet on the ledge; we're gonna meet on the ledge.
G D
If you really mean it, it all comes round again.

A F#m* A Em* A F#m Em Em7
Now I see I'm all alone. But that's the only way to be.
G D G D A
You'll have your chance again; then you can do the work for me.

Meet on...etc.

The F#m and Em marked with a ' * ' - I'm almost sure that I used to play a Bm
for these two chords,
but the F#m and Em sound better just now. (I have a guitar with me, but not the
record).
You might like to stick Bm in there if it sounds better for you.
"Meet on the Ledge." #2
If you are playing the song in A, the marked chords should indeed be Bm.
Actually, though, on the album, the song is played in B-flat.
(Someone's playing a piano on the track, so it's really not too surprising.)

WHO KNOWS WHERE THE TIME GOES
WRITTEN BY Sandy Denny

E A2 E A2 E A2 E A2
E A2 E A2
Across the morning sky all the birds are leaving
E A2 E A2
But how can they know it's time for them to go?
F#m G#m A G#m A
Before the winter's fire, I will still be dreamin'
E
I have no thought of time

CHORUS:
B A
For who knows where the time goes?
E A F#m A E E A2 E A2
Who knows where the time goes?

Sad, deserted shore, your fickle friends are leaving
Ah and yet they know it's time for them to go
But I will still be here, I have no thought of leaving
I do not count the time ...CHORUS

And I am not alone, while my love is near
And I know it will be so until it's time to go
So count the storms of winter and then the birds in spring again
I have no fear of time

CHORUS #2:
For who knows how my love grows?
And who knows where the time goes?

A2: x 0 2 2 0 0

This song is from the 1968 "Fairport Convention" album, by Fairport Convention.

She doesn't see the day-to-day

A A2 A4 A Bm B2 B4 Bm
No colours where the children play

E A
She doesn't see the things she saw

Bm D A A4 A A4 A D F#m C

G* A* D* E* G* A* D* E*
See me fly, see me cry, see me walk away

G* A* D* E* G* A* E
Every time the sun shines, to me it's a rainy day

He didn't see the summer go
Though, he knew what the shadows know
He didn't see his arms closed
He didn't feel his blood run cold

See me fly, see me cry, see me walk away
Every time the sun shines, to me it's a rainy day

They listened to his voice grow pale
No stamps were on the morning mail
They all listened to the white truck ring
Words just didn't mean a thing

See me fly, see me cry, see me walk away
Every time the sun shines, to me it's a rainy day
