CRISS ANGEL - MINDFREAK SEASON ONE

Umbrella Entertainment / 2 disc set / Region 4 / Released March 2008

Magic seems to have moved to a whole new level these days, no longer is it enough to perform sleights of hand or make things disappear, the new breed of magician, including the likes of David Blaine and Criss Angel, whose show Mindfreak, has just had it's first season released on DVD by Umbrella.

Mindfreak really is amazing, Angel is like a gothic cross between Robert Smith of The Cure and Russell Brand, and is more than happy to cross over that line that transport magic from the magical to the truly freaky.

Filmed both at The Aladdin in Las Vegas and on the streets, the show tackles some of the staples of magic tricks such as levitation, escaping from a barrel and being buried alive but with enough new twists to make them truly memorable. Taking it out on the streets of course adds another dimension again, the people Angel interacts with are genuinely shocked and horrified by what is playing out before them.

Angel doesn't use any camera tricks and completely refutes any notion of "special powers" but his tricks are amazing and unforgettable. This two disc release features all 15 episodes from the first season (broadcast in 2005) and has guest appearances from the likes of Mandy Moore & Penn and Teller. But remember folks - please don't try these stunts at home!!!

Extras feature an interview with Angel, 3 step by step guides to creating illusions, a photo gallery and bio and a chance to get interactive.
