DR SEUSS' HORTON HEARS A WHO DELUXE COLLECTORS EDITION

With a big screen version fast upon us it is definitely the right time to take a look at a real gem, a 1970 animated special of the classic Dr Seuss story. Orginally written in 1954 Horton Hears a Who is a wonderfully enriching tale of friendly elephant Horton who is out swimming one day when he hears someone calling for help, which just happens to be coming from an infinitisemally small planet, called Who, living on a speck of dust. The Who's want to be saved and Horton of course is convinced he is just the elephant to do it because "A person's a person, no matter how small" after all. Horton has a problem though - none of the other Jungle animals believe him when he tells them about the planet Who.

Of course this being a slice of lovely Dr Seussness there is a happy ending in store and in these trying and dangerous times that we live in the message it promotes has surely never been more relevent. We haven't seen the new big budget Jim Carrey voiced epic yet but it sure going to have to go some to beat this half hour gem.

This deluxe collectors editon which comes in an embossed slipcase has some great extras too including three more Dr Seuss shorts; Dr Seuss Butter Battle Book; Daisy Head Mayzie and Horton Hatches the Egg. There is also the more than interesting doco In Search of Dr Seuss and a sing along music video for the song You Can Hear Horton, Horton Can Hear You.
