IT'S THE EASTER BEAGLE, CHARLIE BROWN DELUXE EDITION
Warner Home Video / Region 1 / Released March 2008
Poor old Charlie Brown, always the bridesmaid, never the bride, here in this rather lovely Easter special he is seemingly more interested in the fact that the stores are looking towards Christmas whilst the rest of the gang are looking forward to a visit from the Easter Beagle.
Made in 1974 It's The Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown was the 13th installment of Charlie Brown and it's a half hour of pure joy, from Snoopy dancing with rabbits to Sally's search for a pair of special platform boots, mostly though Peppermint Patty is trying to show Marcie how to make coloured eggs.
As always its the simple things in life that please the most and Charlie Brown is full of simple pleasures. Besides the main story there is a second story It's Arbor Day, Charlie Brown (from 1976) in which the gang decide to plant a whole group of trees and flowers, unfortunately, much to the distress of Charlie Brown, they have chosen his baseball teams baseball field for the planting.
This new deluxe edition has been completely re-mastered and arrives in a rather groovy embossed metallic looking slipcasequite frankly has never looked so good. Besides the two specials there is also an excellent docomentary featurette called In Full Bloom: Peanuts at Easter which features contributions from Schulz's family and other cartoonists who worked on the series as well as featuring some great clips.
The perfect Easter morning treat!!
