JOHN LEE HOOKER: That's My Story

Umbrella Entertainment / 88 Minutes / All Region / Released March 2008

A boom, boom, boom, boom, all hail legendary bluesman John Lee Hooker as this 2001 doco, just released by Umbrella, lets the man tell his own story. Although he's no longer with us he was one of the single biggest influences on more than one genration of musician.

Hooker was already well into middle age before he became a major name thanks in no small part to the huge British blues explosion of the early 1960's when Hooker was brought to the UK and feted as a legend by such up and coming players as Eric Clapton, John Mayall and even the young Rolling Stones.

Hooker was never as showy as most of his contemporaries and his throaty growl was as much a part of his appeal as his blues playing. This is a fascinating feature length run through his life and times from his humble beginnings in Mississippi to his final years when he really was King of the Boogie. Along the way there are contributions from Eric Clapton, Robert Cray and Buddy Guy amongst others and of course some brillaint footage of the man himself.

Extras include a biog of Hooker and trailers for other Umbrella product.
