LIFE ON MARS - SEASON TWO EPISODE EIGHT

Officially the best TV show of the last ten years, the second and final season of Life on Mars comes to end on ABC1 on Thursday 3 April 2008 @ 8.30pm. It's one of the finest hours of TV you'll see for some time so don't miss it. Truly moving and unforgettable!

As the episode starts Gene and Sam discover that notorious cop killer Leslie Johns is behind the murder of a miner.

Knowing how big this collar could be, Gene (Philip Glenister) is determined to lead the investigation and beat Morgan (Ralph Brown) to the punch. CID learns that the killing resulted from a fall-out over a planned heist. By going undercover on the heist, they can catch Leslie Johns red-handed. A-division however, is as hurried and unprofessional as ever and begins to screw up. Again.

As Sam (John Simm) questions the dubious ethics behind their methods and motives, he meets Morgan one-on-one. What Morgan tells Sam turns his world upside-down. Suddenly his reasons for being in A-division are cast in a totally new light - at once unbelievable, yet somehow making perfect sense. All Sam has to do, Morgan promises, is one job, then he can 'come home' - words that sound like a lullaby to Sam.

Whilst Sam is in utter turmoil, he has little time to work out who to trust as he and his team head into lethal danger, facing down enemies on both sides of the law. But even he could not picture how disastrously events unfold when CID begins to learn the truth about Sam Tyler just as the heist is in progress. All Sam's and our own presumptions about his past, his future and his very soul begin to unravel in a heart-stopping climax.
