SUBURBAN SHOOTOUT

Acorn Media US / REgion 1 / Released April 2008

Featuring Amelia Bullmore, Anna Chancellor, Felicity Montagu

Suburban Shootout, made for Channel 5 in the UK and seen on the Oxygen channel in the US, is one of the most wacked out, surreal and just plain bizarre shows you'll see in a long while. It's also absolutely hilarious, like a melange of Desperate Housewives, The Stepford Wives and Die Hard, Suburban Shootoout sees Joyce Hazledine (played by Amelia Bullmore) moving into the rather posh London suburb of Little Stempington. All is lovely until she discovers that she is in the middle of a gang war, fought not by drug lords or spaced out teens but middle class housewives, in fact its like the Kray twins are in town, with two rival gangs, one led by Anna Chancellor's Camilla and the other by Felicity Montagu's Barbara, who are controlling evertything from protection rackets at the pub to black market estrogen patches.

Written by Roger Beckett and Garry James Martin, Suburban Shootout is a riotous fantasy sitcom, taking the classic Hollywood action style flick and transplanting it into a traditional English village setting and it works surprising well; Lots of laughs, great casting and some top notch scripts make for a hugely entertaining watch.

Extras feature audio commentaries. cast filmographies and a short behind the scenes doco.
