THE DEMON HORSEMEN by TONY SHILLITOE
Published by Harper Collins
Published by Harper Collins
Fantasy writer Tony Shillitoe is currently at the top of his game, as is made clear with the fourth installment of his Dreaming in Amber series. The Demon Horsemen is a thrilling finale to the quartet.
The series began with farm girl Meg whose life and destiny is changed for ever when she nurses an injured soldier, Treasure, back to health. Discovering she has skills as a seer and a healer Meg is a catalyst for all that follows when she accidentally opens up a way into the world of the Andrakian Dragonlords. Tying in nicely with his previous Ashuak Chronicles the Dreaming in Amber series combines to make one huge epic (although they can all be ready well enough by themselves of course).
In The Demon Horsemen Prince Shadow is now the King of Kerwyn and Meg has finally accepted her destiny - preventing the Seers from unleashing the deadly apocalyptic Demon Horsemen. It's the political machinations that drives the story though as tensions rise between the Kerwyn and the Ranu, mainly down to A Ahmud Ki, leader of the Ranu, trying to take control of the drugs trade in euphoria.
When the Seers do unleash the Horsemen it quickly becomes obvious that Meg really does hold the key to saving the world!
Like all the best fantasy there is much to recognise within Prince Shadow's world, fragments of our own world. Shillitoe, even if you haven't read the preceding novels, quickly hooks you in with his epic tale.
An exciting, tense, thought provoking fantasy spectacular of the first order.
