THE EASTER BUNNY IS COMING TO TOWN
Warner / 50 minutes / Region 1
Featuring the voice of Fred Astaire
A 1970's stop-motion classic telling the story of the Easter Bunny and how we come to celebrate Easter the way we do. Rankin and Bass are the legendary team who brought us Christmas classics Santa Claus is Coming to Town and Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. The pair dubbed their style Animagic and there is certainly a special feel about all their productions, resolutely lo-fi and all the better and much more charming for it in our modern 200mph world.
The Easter Bunny is Coming to Town features Rankin and Bass favourite Fred Astaire as the narrator who tells the story of Sunny the Easter bunny who helps the residents of kidsville understand what Easter is all about (and here is me thinking that it's all about how many Easter Eggs you need to eat in one sitting to make yourself sick.
Featuring some great songs, not least the the memorable title song sung by Fred himself and Someone's Gotta Be First this is a great release by Warner who give us the opportunity to turn back the clock to a time when everyone sat in front of the TV together (and not a music player or games console in sight, well maybe in the rich kid down the streets house but certainly not mine)
The release comes in a lovely new Deluxe edition with an Easterish themed embossed slipcase and a remastered pristine looking new print and is a must for anyone who wants to really get into the spirit of Easter with their kids.
