ACTOR COLIN FRIELS COLLAPSES ON STAGE

Midway through a performance of the intense play Death of a Salesman last night at Sydney’s Belvoir Street Theatre Colin Friels collapsed on stage.

It’s a powerful production that always takes a lot out of an actor, the Age has reported that Friels had been suffering from the flu for the last few days, meanwhile Adelaide Now reported that a “spokesperson from Belvoir St Theatre (had) confirmed Friels collapsed during the performance for unknown reasons but said he was “fine” and undergoing medical tests to determine the reason for the blackout.

Friels apparently walked off stage a little to answer a door but then was heard moaning as he fell to the floor. The stage manager then very quickly called off the rest of the performance. Friels was then taken to St Vincents hospital.

Death of a Salesman is completing its run at the Belvoir St Theatre before it moves for a new season at Theatre Royal next week.
