BBC Brings ‘Castaway’ to America

“Castaway,” a documentary/experiment style British series featuring 28 adults and eight children living for a year on a remote Scottish island, will premiere in the United States on BBC America in September, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Unlike “Survivor,” “Castaway” offers no prizes and allows all 36 participants to stay through the series’ conclusion.

The castaways have been living on the three-mile-long island since Dec. 31 and will be picked up this New Year’s Eve.

BBC America will air the first block of “Castaway” episodes Sept. 11-14, then air the remainder in late 2000 and early 2001.
