BBC One: A Midsummer Nights Dream In Production for 2016

The BBC have announced an all star line up for a high profile one off version of Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Nights Dream that has been adapted by Russell T Davies. The 90 minute drama, which will begin filming in Roath Lock in Cardiff, will broadcast in 2016.

The cast is headed by Maxine Peake as Titania, Matt Lucas as Bottom, John Hannah as Theseus and Eleanor Matsuura as Hippolyta. Elaine Paige, Richard Wilson and Bernard Cribbins are also on board.

Davies said of the news “this is such an exciting range of actors from stage and screen, from wild comedy to high drama, and some making their first ever appearance on camera. The Dream is coming to life like never before.”

The director is David Kerr.
