BBC One Give Matt Lucas Awards Second Series
It started out as a series on BBC Radio 2 before graduating to the small screen last year and thanks to the reasonable viewing figures for the first series the BBC have announced that a second series of The Matt Lucas Awards has been commissioned.
The Matt Lucas Awards starring Matt Lucas is returning for a second series on BBC One.
The series features celebrity guests providing nominations in a number of weird and wonderful categories, the winners of which receive a ‘Lucas’ award. Categories in the first series included Smuggest Nation of People, Most More-ish Food and Most Comprehensive But Utterly Useless Knowledge.
Guests in the first series included Ruth Jones, Richard Madeley, Johnny Vegas, Sue Perkins and David Baddiel. It also featured regular contributions from the film composer David Arnold and Matt’s mother, Diana. The series averaged 1.9m viewers over its seven week run on BBC One at 10.35pm.
The Matt Lucas Awards was series produced by Ashley Blaker, produced by Richard Grocock and was a co-production between John Stanley Productions & BBC In-house Comedy Production.
