CBS Lands ‘Say Uncle’ Pilot

CBS has beaten out two other networks for 20th Century Fox Television’s quirky family comedy “Say Uncle,” Daily Variety reports.

The series, which centers on a gay man who assumes responsibility for his teen-age nephew and niece, is the brainchild of “Just Shoot Me” creator Steve Levitan and former “Frasier” supervising producer Jeffrey Richman — both of whom will serve as executive producers.

CBS has reportedly agreed to a larger-than-normal license fee and a steep penalty if the series is not picked up. “Uncle” is being targeted for the eye network’s fall 2001 schedule.
