Celebrity Apprentice Australia: Lauryn Eagle on Egos and Rivalries
Lauryn Eagle, the 22 year old female boxer, has been one of the surprise packages on this season of Celebrity Apprentice and has been talking to the Courier Mail about some of the shenanigans that have been happening on the show so far – not least the seemingly bitter departure of Tania Zaetta and Eagle’s rivalry with her from the start.
Your clash with Tania Zaetta was pretty immediate.
She just gave off that jealousy, intimidation vibe and I thought “oh, here we go”.
Did you try to win her over, change that perception she seemed to have of you?
It got to a point where I didn’t even care what she thought of me because she was so domineering and controlling. It was ridiculous and every episode just got worse and worse. It wasn’t a case of winning her over, I wanted to beat her.
My competitiveness came out, to prove I’m a good person and not strategic. In the end, when she got fired, it was quite bad.
But she raised a lot of money, had a lot of corporate pulling power, who knows how, but in the end she didn’t end up raising any money for her charity because she lost the challenge when she was project manager.
So when she got fired I said, “Look, Tania, I know we’ve had our differences, but I’m willing to give you $20,000 from the ($150,000) I raised.”
It showed me what she was truly like, because she said “No, no, no, I don’t want you to say that on camera. You can give it to me.” So I said, “Forget it then”. It was so strategic. I ended up giving it to her but she wouldn’t accept it on camera … Tania’s all about stroking her ego and I don’t do that.
Eagle seems like a genuinely well adjusted and nice girl and has to be one of the favourites to take the title. This season of Celebrity Apprentice thing has taken off in a huge way for Channel 9 helped enormously by the whole David Hasselhoff affair. The series continues on Channel 9 on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
