Posted May 10, 2012 by MemTV in NEWS

There has been an awful lot of bru-ha-ha over the last few days about whether Michelle Collins is staying with Coronation Street or leaving, most of the column inches generated from an interview with The Sun in which Collins told the paper she would be with the show for the next year but after that who knows but as STV reports the reality is Collins has actually just signed a new 12 month contract!

The 51-year-old actress – who plays Rovers Return landlady Stella Price in the ITV1 soap – revealed today (09.05.12) that she will remain in the show for at least another year and can’t wait for Stella’s upcoming ”exciting storylines”.

She said in a statement: ”I am very happy working on ‘Coronation Street’ and have no plans to leave the show.

”I have recently signed a new contract for another 12 months and have not said I’m planning to leave the show after that time. I’m really enjoying playing Stella and have made some firm friends on the cast.

”There are a lot of exciting storylines in the pipeline for Stella, including the recent casting of Sue Johnston as her mum, and I’m relishing the chance to be part of such an amazing show.”
