DOC MARTIN SERIES RETURN ITV 1 MONDAY 12 SEPTEMBER 2011

A brand new series of Martin Clunes starring Doc Martin (or maybe it should now be renamed Dad Martin!) begins on ITV1 this Monday and the Doc is struggling to come to terms with being a father. Not only that – he no longer even has a practice to practice in!

Before he knew that estranged partner Louisa (played by Caroline Catz) was pregnant, Martin had planned to resume his high-flying career as a consultant in London – and he has already given up his surgery to newly qualified GP Dr Di Dibbs (Joanna Scanlan). But now his new son has arrived, and with him dramatic changes for both Martin and Louisa.

Meanwhile, Dr Dibbs is excited at the prospect of moving into her first surgery, but Martin begins to have doubts about her competency after she misdiagnoses a patient and hands out prescriptions for inappropriate medication. She even misdiagnoses her own illness – which almost proves fatal.

Lots of changes including the departure of one of the lynchpins of the series but by the end of the episode everything is hunky dory once again.
