GILLIAN ANDERSON AND DAVID SUCHET SIGN ON TO BBC'S GREAT EXPECTATIONS

One of the centrepieces of the BBC’s Christmas 2011 line up with the all star adaptation of Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations with Gillian Anderson and David Suchet having been confirmed to play leading roles in the drama. Anderson will play the pivotal role of Miss Haversham, she is no stranger to British costume drama either having played one of the lead roles in the superb Bleak House and also appearing in the recent The Crimson Petal and the White. Suchet will be playing Jaggers.

Ray Winstone is returning to the BBC to take on the role of Abel Magwitch, the rest of the cast also includes Paul Rhys, Frances Barber, Mark Addy and Claire Rusbrook. 2012 is the bi-centenary of Dickens’ birth so expect lots of Dickensian action over the next 12 months.
