The Gruen Planet, the much anticipated spin off from ad-tastic show The Gruen Transfer will premiere on ABC 1 on Wednesday September 28 at 9pm, ABC1. Despite there being a seemingly endless supply of targets to take pot shots at within the advertising industry the Gruen Planet opens up to also take in Spin, Branding and Image Control -

all three of which are completely out of control in our modern media led world.

Because everyone is on the sell. Tyrants. Sports stars. Actors. Criminals. Politicians. Deities. Charities. Entire nations. They’re all trying to persuade us to think, buy or do things that we weren’t thinking, buying or doing yesterday. Planet promises to deliver on all of these as well as recent stories such as how do you protect an unstable government when a backbencher goes feral? Does Tiger cut it any more as a business? How has the Arab uprising been turned into Western profit? What was the Dalai Lama doing on Masterchef? Who do you turn to when your family name is your brand – and it’s become toxic?

Each week, host Wil Anderson will be joined by Transfer regulars Todd Sampson and Russel Howcroft, along with some of Australia’s smartest communications experts. And some who are probably not as smart as they think they are – which only adds to the fun of course.
