ITV: Broadchurch Will Get A Third Series

Well that’s a surprise then, ITV confirmed at the end of the just aired final episode of season two that crime drama Broadchurch will be back for more.

Ratings for the second season have been steady, hovering around the nine million mark, rather than through the roof and many, viewers and critics alike, felt that the storyline for the second run of episodes wasn’t strong enough but having said that Broadchurch still maintained a strong presence across the media.

We know that David Tennant and Olivia Colman will be back but no word on other cast members yet. Chris Chibnall will again be the creative force behind the scripts and Jane Featherstone will executive produce.

Chris said of the news “We’ve been overwhelmed that nine million people every week have continued to join us on the twists and turns of Broadchurch. This third chapter has been a glint in my eye for a long time and I’m thrilled to be writing these characters once again.”

Filming will commence later this year.
