If you’ve ever seen the Japanese version of Ninja Warrior then you’ll just what a great idea this is. ITV are planning their own local version!
The series, which already boast US, Swedish and Malaysian versions, sees a group of contestants tackling a very difficult assault course that will test all aspects of body strength. The Japanese version usually starts with a hundred contestants having a go with very few actually making it through to round two. This UK version will start with 250 wheedling them out until only one remains.
The series will be hosted by Ben Shephard – clearly ITV only have four male TV show hosts, Ant and Dec, Stephen Mulhern and Ben.
Asif Zubairy who is ITV’s Commissioning Editor for Entertainment said “we are thrilled to be bringing Ninja Warrior to the UK. This exciting new format will showcase some inspirational achievements as well as hilarious mishaps on what promises to be the toughest course on TV.”
Ninja Warrior UK is a Potato production for ITV. The executive producers are Michael Kelpie, Martin Scott and Simon Marsh for Potato.
Ninja Warrior is a Tokyo Broadcasting System Television-owned Sasuke format.
