Public Eye: The Golden Boy (ITV 10 Jan 1973, with Richard Hurndall)
In The Golden Boy a promising Oxford scholar, Vyvyan Reveldale, has gone missing, his former tutor Reggie Aston is keen to find him but comes up against strong opposition from Vivyan’s father Sir John who has a deep felt and long held distrust of Reggie going back to their school days.
It’s not an easy case for Marker, he faces closed doors at every turn – until Vyvyan’s mother turns up, tells him that he has been abroad and has just returned to London. She even gives Frank an address where Vyvyan is staying.
When Frank does finally find Vyvyan you think he might not be the Golden Boy of the title he is painted to be but he genuinely is, he has been living in India for six months and really had his eyes opened by the levels of poverty there.
