Further to our story of a couple of days ago, Fox have now confirmed that 13 years after it’s last episode The X-Files is coming back for a limited series run of 6 episodes. Chris Carter is in charge and David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson are on board as Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.
The announcement was made today by Dana Walden and Gary Newman, head honchos at Fox and the series is due to begin filming this summer.
Chris Carter was pretty happy at the news commenting “I think of it as a 13-year commercial break. The good news is the world has only gotten that much stranger, a perfect time to tell these six stories.”
The X-Files, which ran for 9 seasons from 1993, was arguably the most popular show of the 1990’s and certainly the most popular genre show and like Doctor Who and Star Trek it has always retained a huge fan base.
