ITV1 have commissioned a new 20 part drama series from Fremantle Media UK label, Newman Street, the hour long episodes will have a faux documentary feel and will mix re-enactments with CCTV footage and will follow the work of two police officers who become central characters to the series.

The stories are inspired by real crimes which creates powerful and easily relatable human drama. Each episode provides a unique insight into the working methods of the experienced detectives as they investigate a case and uncover the truth.

Each hour long stand alone story will be shot in the same police station set – with CCTV and other crime-video inserts to provide extra authenticity to the story.

This is the first commission for Newman Street.

Co-created by Steve Hughes (writer, The Bill, Hollyoaks) and Darren Fairhurst (writer, Shameless) True Crime is a Newman Street commission for ITV1. The Executive Producer is Paul Marquess.

It was commissioned by Director of Factual and Daytime Alison Sharman and ITV Commissioner for Factual and Daytime Katy Thorogood.
